Bowl FAQs
*The Redlands Community Music Association (RCMA) is the operations and governance organization behind the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival.*
How much do tickets cost?
There is no admission charge to attend the performances at the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival! In order to present fine music and dance programs for the enjoyment of everyone, a freewill offering is collected at the break prior to intermission, and audience members are asked to donate according to their ability.
Can seating space be reserved at the Bowl?
A city ordinance prohibits the reservation or “saving” of seats for performances at the Redlands Bowl. Leaving blankets, cushions, articles of clothing, ropes, ribbon tape or other items in or upon seating space is not allowed.
What kind of seating do you have?
The Redlands Bowl has bench seats with backs, which can accommodate approximately 5,000 people. In addition, there is limited space on the grass slopes around the sides of the bench seating. If you sit in the grass areas, you will need to bring a blanket or lawn chairs for seating. See a diagram, a photo, and a 360° moving picture by clicking on “Information.” On the drop-down, choose “Bowl Seating.” No seating is permitted in the orchestra pit area.
Is there a handicapped seating area at the Bowl?
Yes, there are designated areas for those with special needs. Please refer to the above mentioned diagram.
Where do we park?
Many Bowl patrons park at the large Redlands Mall parking lot or the smaller lot just across the street from the mall at the corner ofCitrus Avenueand Fourth Street. The mall lot can be accessed fromEureka Street,OrangeStreet,Citrus Avenue, orRedlands Boulevard. For driving details, click on “Information.” On the drop down, choose “Directions & Parking.”
Is there a handicapped parking area at the Bowl?
Yes, handicapped parking can be accessed onEureka Street. That street is blocked off at the Bowl site and manned by the Citizen Volunteer Patrol, whose members help direct vehicles with proper ID to the designated parking areas.
Where do buses or large passenger vehicles park?
Small buses or large vans must drive up to the barricades near the Bowl onEureka Streetand allow the passengers to disembark under the direction of the Citizen Volunteer Patrol. The vehicles may then leave the area and return to pick up their passengers when the performance is over, or at their designated meeting time. There is no on-site parking for larger passenger buses. Are picnic dinners allowed?
Absolutely! Part of the “Bowl experience” is enjoying a picnic dinner with family and friends. There are no tables, but you can bring your dinner right to the seating area. Please be neighborly and dispose of your trash in the proper containers located all around the Bowl. Picnic coolers must be small enough to stow away under the bench seats. No coolers are allowed to remain on the seats or in the aisles.
Are wine or other alcoholic beverages allowed at the Bowl?
A city ordinance prohibits the drinking of alcoholic beverages in city parks, and the Redlands Bowl is a designated city park.
Are children welcome?
Yes! The Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival, presented by the RCMA, is a multi-generational, family-friendly celebration of fine music and dance programs. We welcome our future patrons! We do ask that adults closely monitor their children for their own safety and that of others
Are dogs (or other pets) allowed at the performances?
A city ordinance prohibits animals to be present at any public assembly in Redlands, with the exception of service animals. ADArules do allow exclusion of a service animal if it is out of control or poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
May we take pictures or use a video camera to record the performance?
As a contractual obligation with the artists which the RCMA must uphold, the filming, recording or photographing of any performance is not permitted without prior written consent of the performing artists and the Redlands Community Music Association.
Is smoking allowed at the Bowl?
A city ordinance prohibits smoking one hour before, during, and one hour after a performance at the Redlands Bowl.
What are the safety rules for performances at the Bowl?
All aisles must be kept clear of ice chests, strollers, backpacks, wheelchairs, walkers, or any other obstacles. These items may be stowed under the seats if they fit or if they can be folded to fit. If not, please find a Red Shirt usher for assistance. They will help you find a designated place where these items may be left during the performance.
What are the “rules of etiquette” at the Bowl?
In consideration of other audience members and the performing artists, we ask that you refrain from conversation during the performance.
Kindly silence all cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices for the duration of each performance.
Please remove hats or anything that might obstruct the view of others when the
performance begins.
